As the world becomes more conscious about the environment, one must invest in mattress recycling to minimize ecological impact while developing new ways to retrieve them. Some states have laws to ensure that mattresses don’t lie in the landfill after use. According to the International Sleep Products Association, it is estimated that approximately 50,000 mattresses end up in the dumpster every single day in the United States. The problem began when mattresses involved centuries of decomposing after burying, primarily due to the materials used. Mattresses can be made of both inorganic and organic materials, as they gradually break down when buried. Unlike a regular composing situation where the organic material naturally breaks down, non-biodegradable trash in the landfills releases toxic gases during decomposition.
